Beware of Diversions at the Gate...

Yesterday I heard the spirit of the Lord say: Don’t let your energy be diverted at the gate.” What is a diversion? Diversion in the dictionary literally means an instance of turning something aside from its course.

I went for a morning walk and just the day before I had a business opportunity that presented itself that was a good idea, but not a God idea. The Lord reminded me of this and I had to quickly repent and back out of committing to something that was not in his plan for my life right now. The Lord showed me how I literally was about to use my energy and focus partially for this new thing which would have split by focus, when he needed my 100% on what He already told me to do!

As I rounded the corner to walk back home the Holy spirit directed me to observe the street signs. On the first street I passed it said: “Dead End Ahead.” And on the next street it said: “No Outlet.” And the Lord began to minister to me that although something may look good, it is He that sees the end from the beginning. The reason we must lean on the Holy Spirit fully is because we can end up completely off of the prosperous path the Lord has set for us thinking it’s a great idea, but it’s one that only leads to a dead end. In Isaiah 46:10 (NIV Version) it reads: I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.”

Sometimes when the enemy can’t get us to sin, or can’t get us to stop from warfare or trials, he brings a more subtle attack: a war for our attention and focus to shift us off of the path the Lord wants us on, and on to something that may look promising but will not fulfill God’s plans for our lives. And often the thing that looks good, but isn’t God causes us to rely heavily on man. The thing that is God, may look BIGGER than we can handle because it is supposed to be. We need Him to help us execute it and to guide us because it may feel like a daunting, unfamiliar, new territory.

In Jeremiah 29:11 it says: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Many of us are at the gate! Meaning we are only a few short days from our breakthrough, so it’s important to be vigilant, and ensure we are letting the Holy Spirit guide every decision.

Here’s a short prayer you can pray regarding this word: Heavenly Father, I ask you now to order my steps completely. I surrender my will and ask that your will be done in my life. Lord, I ask that you expose the distractions and diversions of the enemy and give me the strength to say NO to anything that may be a good idea and not a God idea. Thank you Father for directing me away from any path, relationship, or decision that will not yield good fruit or fulfill the plans and purposes you have for my life. Thank you Father for shutting the door to any diversion. Increase my discernment so that I may see the doors you have opened and walk boldly into them. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
